Tri-Sport Tournament Rules & Scoring

Three sports. One leaderboard. These regulations keep every Tri-Sport Tournament weekend fair, safe, and fun.

All Tri-Sport Tournament participants must be 19+ years of age

13-Man Tri-Sport Roster

Each team will carry a 13-man roster. All 13 players are eligible to participate in hockey and baseball, while 12 players will compete in golf.

This structure is designed to allow flexibility for injuries, scheduling conflicts, or fatigue, without forcing a team to forfeit or scramble for replacements.

The Tri-Sport Tournament itself can still be played and completed with only 12 players, ensuring competitive balance while giving teams the security of an extra roster spot.

Fighting Rule

Fighting is unacceptable. The Tri-Sport Tournament convenors reserve the right to remove any player from the event for fighting or aggressive behavior. Decisions will be made at the discretion of the referees and event organizers.

Hockey Rules

Two straight-time periods (25 minutes then 20 minutes).
Stop-time is activated when the score is within two goals with 2:00 remaining.
No slapshots. Violations result in a 3-minute penalty.
All penalties are 3 minutes and begin at the drop of the puck.
Each team must dress a minimum of 12 players, or you will start with a 2-minute penalty.
Show respect to officials—zero tolerance for abuse.

Baseball Rules

SPN Slo-Pitch rules govern play.
Grey Dot Worth softballs are supplied and must be used.
Each team must field 12 players. For every player who is absent, they will be an automatic out when it is their turn to bat.
Games are 6 innings or 50 minutes, whichever comes first.
No touching home plate on scoring plays.
Baseball bats: Wooden bats are to be supplied by the teams. We suggest having a minimum of two per team.
Respect the officials at all times.

Golf Rules

Teams consist of 12 players split into Flights A, B, and C (submitted one week out).
Scramble format played in eightsomes against another team in your flight.
Scorecards: Each team must switch scorecards with the group they are playing with and keep score for each other. This is non-negotiable.
Only athletes who competed all weekend may tee it up on Sunday—no subs.
Flights are locked one week prior; no substitutions after submission.
Golf short players: If a team is short players for golf, they are only able to hit once for each player. If your group only has 3 players, you only get 3 shots each time and 3 putts.

Maximum team haul over Friday/Saturday (4-0 record) = 16 points.

Golf Flights & Points

Sunday golf can net up to 18 points if you sweep all three flights.

›3rd = 5 pts
›4th = 4 pts
›5th = 3 pts
›6th = 2 pts
›7th = 1 pt
›8th-12th = 0 pts

B
B Flight

›1st = 6 pts
›2nd = 5 pts
›3rd = 4 pts
›4th = 3 pts
›5th = 2 pts
›6th = 1 pt
›7th-12th = 0 pts

C
C Flight

›1st = 5 pts
›2nd = 4 pts
›3rd = 3 pts
›4th = 2 pts
›5th = 1 pt
›6th-12th = 0 pts

Ties within a flight split the points for the tied positions evenly (e.g., tie for 1st in B Flight = (6 + 5) ÷ 2 = 5.5 points each).

Sudden-Death Policy

If teams are tied after golf, each captain selects four players for a sudden-death playoff beginning on the 18th tee and moving backward until a winner emerges.
